Scar tissue formation is part of the natural healing process after having a nose job; however, excessive or problematic scarring can alter the result of your rhinoplasty procedure.

Contents
1. Dehydration2. Excessive Weight3. Allergies4. Poor Healing

Scar tissue may initially appear reddish-pink in color but will gradually transition to silvery or flesh hues over time. Scar massage helps accelerate this fading process by stimulating collagen remodeling while simultaneously increasing moisture and pliability of scar tissue.

1. Dehydration

Sinuses produce mucus to keep the air you breathe clean, warm and moist. If a sinus passage becomes blocked, your nose may become stuffy or you may lose your sense of smell or taste. Surgery can clear away this obstruction to improve breathing; widening the opening between sinus and nose allows easier airflow while simultaneously clearing any nasal polyps that might be causing issues.

At surgery, an anesthetic will be given to put you to sleep; this may leave you feeling groggy for several days after. A splint may be taped to your nose as protection until swelling subsides; you should refrain from strenuous activity such as strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and nose blowing for at least a week after having this done.

An over-the-counter nasal saline spray can provide comfort after nose surgery. Make sure to use it every two or three hours as recommended to avoid infections of the nose.

If you smoke, it is essential that you quit for at least two weeks prior to surgery as smoking can increase scar tissue around your incisions and delay healing.

Nausea can be an unfortunate side effect of nasal surgery, but it’s easily treatable with medication. If you find yourself feeling queasy after receiving care from a surgeon, be sure to take all medications prescribed by your physician as directed.

Anesthesia can make you lose your appetite, so it is crucial that you consume nutritious food and drink plenty of fluids prior to having surgery. The faster your incision sites heal with more hydration.

Under bivariate analysis, factors including age, sex, history of an ileostomy, diagnosis of high ostomy output during index admission, use of diuretics at home and change in discharge creatinine were associated with readmission for dehydration after surgical procedures. More research needs to be conducted in order to identify additional predictors that could indicate the likelihood of readmission for dehydration post surgery.

2. Excessive Weight

As with any surgery, your body will produce scar tissue to aid its own healing process. Most patients experience minimal scarring that subsides over time. But in rare cases, scar tissue may thicken and form adhesions – particularly after rhinoplasty that reduces nasal size significantly; thickened adhesions may create breathing issues and require further surgical removal; keeping up with proper skincare and following your surgeon’s recovery instructions can help minimize scarring so it does not become an issue in future.

If your scar tissue appears to be growing larger instead of dissolving over time, consulting with a plastic surgeon for guidance is advised. Revision surgery may be necessary depending on how much manipulation occurred during your rhinoplasty; however it must be noted that surgical treatments of scar tissue may further soft tissue injury leading to scar formation; alternative non-invasive methods like steroid injections could also prove helpful; these will take time however to take effect.

3. Allergies

Complications after nasal surgery such as rhinoplasty can often arise; however, many can be avoided by carefully planning and following all post-op instructions from your surgeon. This includes using saline spray for moisturization after each session; sleeping with your head elevated during recovery time and taking all medications as directed.

Nasal Symptoms- Pain and swelling will initially follow surgery; this is a normal part of healing and should subside over time. Allergies- Allergies are an ever-present risk, yet especially so after nasal surgery due to increased irritation in these areas; when this becomes an issue with sinusitis symptoms it’s advisable to use antihistamines and nasal steroid sprays in order to manage them effectively.

Bleeding- Bleeding during and after surgery is rare, but should it occur it’s important to contact your physician immediately for further treatment. In particular it’s wise to avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, and certain dietary supplements in the weeks leading up to surgery as these increase your risk of bleeding during and post procedure.

Septal Perforation- In rare instances, holes can form in the septum between right and left nostrils, leading to crusting, whistling and loss of smell. Additional surgery will likely be necessary to resolve such an issue if this should arise.

Before opting for rhinoplasty, consult with a certified plastic surgeon. They will be able to provide all the information that will allow you to make an informed decision, including risks and complications associated with various procedures as well as benefits of each approach. Eventually, choose the procedure which meets your goals best!

4. Poor Healing

All surgeries cause scars, and it is normal for there to be some differences between the surgical site and surrounding skin in terms of appearance. Sometimes the scar tissue may appear unattractive or different from its surroundings and this could change over time; additionally it’s possible that scarring in the nasal region could worsen over time and additional surgeries or treatments might be required in response.

An infection is one of the primary factors contributing to poor healing after nasal surgery; you can protect against this threat by maintaining good hygiene practices and following your surgeon’s care instructions for post-op care. An infection may require antibiotics or other treatments and result in permanent skin damage.

Your surgeon will provide a list of precautions and recommendations after your procedure, such as cleaning the wounds and applying an antiswelling agent to reduce swelling and prevent infections. Furthermore, sunlight or tanning for at least six weeks post-surgery to protect delicate facial skin from harm as sunlight exposure increases risks like scarring and unevenness.

Cosmetic & Functional Nasal Surgery results do not appear immediately, as 80% of swelling may take up to two months to subside. It is recommended to keep the nose elevated during this period and use cold compresses on its bridge in order to decrease swelling. Fluctuations is normal during this timeframe, particularly within the first few days following your procedure.

As part of your preparations for surgery, it is advised that you begin taking Arnica montana pills one or two days in advance to help reduce bruising and swelling. Cold compresses or gel packs may be used within four days after an operation to minimize bruising – however it is crucial that the temperature be tested first as sensation in wound areas may temporarily decrease after surgery.
